Open Minds was a docuseries and live event platform for IBM celebrating open-source advocates and the communities they serve. We designed and directed the studio environment, motion graphics package, and documentary-style portrait series—bridging editorial storytelling with experiential design.
We wanted it to feel like a working set—a place where ideas could take shape, something deliberately unfinished. Translucent LED panels and projected typography shifted tone with each subject’s story—quiet and reflective one moment, charged and graphic the next. The set stayed alive.
Working with photographer Mark Mahaney, we developed a portrait series that brought the open-source contributors into focus. Natural light brought candor and optimism to the portraits—letting the people feel approachable and the work feel open.
