Design System Motion Design

Unity

“Unity” represents a motion-first design approach — an evolution of a system meant to visualize progress and structure through a rigid grid that shows people, data, technology, and their spatial relationships.

Beneath a thin outer crust exists an endless graphic matrix that is always moving, buzzing, and adapting. Everything hinges on our ability to carefully reveal the magnificently complex architecture that lies just beyond our friendly and seemingly simple facade.

Unity design system overview
Process

Designed to move.

The system prioritizes animation as a foundational element rather than an afterthought. Beneath a thin outer crust exists an endless graphic matrix that is always moving, buzzing, and adapting.

The design carefully balances a friendly facade with the complex architecture beneath.

Unity animation exploration

Keyframes-first workflow.

Rather than conventional design processes, the team started with animation for abstract discovery, then identified moments of visual interest to weave into the static design language.

Everything in the illustrated matrix was considered as potentially animatable — even if it never moves.
